HAPPINESS AND EUSTRESS FOR HEALTH Our happy hormones are intertwined with our physical and mental health and provide happiness, a predictor of health and longevity. If they get depleted, unhappiness or even depression supervenes but there are ways to boost these hormones. Conversely, chronic and severe stresses cause poor health and shorter life. Paradoxically, however, repeated acute and mild stresses known as eustresses trigger our cells not only to repair themselves but also overcompensate through a process of clearance of even earlier damage that might have accumulated. Inaugural address at Third South Asian Ageing Network Symposium (25-26 Nov) at Delhi University attended by Indian and foreign participants. Ageing issues including its demography, national and international scenario, health care, healthy ageing and old age morbidities including cognitive frailty, the main theme of the symposium were reflected.

Senior citizens engagement and productive ageing. Senior citizens not a burden but an asset: How to keep them engaged and make them productive.
